CS654 Project Report Critical Examination of Service Discovery Techniques in Peer-to-Peer Systems

چکیده
Web services are the new paradigm of distributed computing because of their promise toward interoperability of applications and integration of large scale distributed systems. On the other hand, with the ever increasing number of computers all around the globe, peerto-peer(P2P) networks have gained large popularity capitalizing on their open, distributed, inter-operable, cost-effective and resource-friendly nature. As a consequence, the problem of finding a way to effectively combine web services with P2P technologies has gained much attention because of its potential to be an effective solution to business integration problems. Hence, different large-scale service infrastructures utilizing P2P systems have been proposed by many research groups. Service discovery, an integral part of any large-scale service infrastructure, ensures that all the services provided by different providers within the infrastructure are collected, organized and published in a way that the clients can efficiently search and find their desired services. Due to the transitory nature of peer population and ever-changing information content in these peers, users almost always do not have the exact information about the available services/resources in the system. As a result, queries are based on partial information requiring a flexible search mechanism which, by the way, also have to be complete, scalable and efficient. Existing search mechanisms in P2P networks, in general, do not provide a satisfactory solution for achieving the conflicting goals of flexibility and efficiency. Unstructured search techniques sacrifice efficiency for flexibility, whereas structured ones (mostly

A Genetic Programming-based trust model for P2P Networks
Abstract— Peer-to-Peer ( P2P ) systems have been the center of attention in recent years due to their advantage . Since each node in such networks can act both as a service provider and as a client , they are subject to different attacks . Therefore it is vital to manage confidence for these vulnerable environments in order to eliminate unsafe peers . This paper investigates the use of genetic ...

Explaining the characteristics of peer-to-peer learning: A qualitative study Introduction: Learning through peers is an educational method. Explaining the characteristics of learning with the help of peers has not been done in a study, so the purpose of this study was to explain the characteristics of learning with the help of peers. Materials and Methods: This qualitative study was perfo...
متن کاملA Semantic Overlay for Service Discovery across Web Information Systems
Nowadays many collaborative organizations require advanced semantic interoperability tools to enable cooperation and communication across distributed Web Information Systems (WIS). Adopting the service oriented technology, they have improved interoperability at the application level by using services for WIS functionalities provisioning. Furthermore, in order to support effective peer-to-peer c...
متن کاملPeer-to-Peer Approaches to Grid Resource Discovery
Peer-to-peer organization of Grid resource discovery services would have several desirable features, including high scalability, high reliability, self-organization and self-healing. In this paper, we describe challenges in applying P2P techniques to Grid services. These include the choice of overlay configuration and varying security requirements for Grid and P2P environments. We present the d...

In this paper, we present a general architecture for service delivery and coordination in intelligent peer-to-peer (IP2P) environments that has been developed within the CASCOM research project. Our essential approach is an innovative combination of agent technology, Semantic Web Services, peer-to-peer, context-awareness, and mobile computing for intelligent peer-to-peer mobile service environm...
